South Valley of Cusco Tour

Another of the attractive places that Cusco has is the South Valley of Cusco. The landscape it presents is incomparable surrounded by imposing mountains, Andean communities, grazing animals and farmland.

During the tour you will be able to tour part of the valley and understand more about the history of Cusco in its three historical stages: the pre-Inca, Inca and colonial times. You will visit the places of Tipon, Pikillacta and a colonial church located in Andahuaylillas.

Tipon:

Located 25 kilometers from Cusco is the archaeological complex. Here you can see the advanced technology that the Incas used in agriculture. You can see crop fields that were irrigated by highly advanced hydraulic systems, the water came from springs from the Apu Pachatusan.

Pikillacta:

This citadel was built a time before the Incas by the Wari culture. Its walls and constructions were based on mud and stones. Although today the function that this place fulfilled is still unknown, it will leave you amazed with its peculiar shape and construction techniques.

Andahuaylillas:

It is one of the colonial towns that still preserves its houses and streets very much in the colonial style. It houses a church known as “The Sistine Chapel of America”, a church with golden wings and paintings on the ceilings by various artists. Although it looks simple on the outside, inside it will dazzle you with its decoration by the “Cusqueña School”.
