Tour Details

The Humantay lagoon is one of the most popular and favorite places for tourists. Located in the province of Anta, this lagoon stands out for its crystal clear waters and the imposing mountains that surround it.

The waters of this lake hide myths and legends throughout its territory. It is also considered a sacred place by the inhabitants, you can see some Andean shamans or priests offering the Apacheta, as thanks to Mother Earth for accompanying them on her journey. This is a custom that many towns in Cusco still carry out and pass from generation to generation.

The name of the lagoon is due to the Humantay mountain that feeds the waters of the lagoon with the snow that melts in its snow. The Humantay lagoon is located at a high altitude, so we recommend you spend a few days in Cusco and take a half-day tour; thus avoid altitude sickness and other discomforts.
