Full Day7 Laguns Ausangate

Cusco – Pacchanta – Lakes – Cusco

Get ready for a full day immersed in the highlands of the Ausangate region, where the nature and spirituality of the Andes come together for an unforgettable journey.

Start of the Adventure

Our day begins early, with a 4 a.m. pickup from your hotel in Cusco. After a scenic three-hour drive, we’ll arrive at the charming Andean village of Pacchanta (4,200 meters above sea level), passing through the picturesque town of Tinke. In Pacchanta, the crisp mountain air and serene atmosphere offer a true escape. Upon arrival, you’ll enjoy a warm breakfast prepared by our chef, who will also ensure that all safety protocols are in place.

Ascending to the Sacred Lakes

We set off on a five-hour hike to explore Ausangate’s seven lakes, crossing dreamlike landscapes along the way. Our journey takes us to the lakes of Azulcocha, Otorongo, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, and Q’omercocha, each with unique reflections and beauty.

Meeting the Apus

Throughout this sacred path, you’ll marvel at the majestic snow-capped peaks that watch over these lands, including Ausangate (6,834 meters), Mariposa (5,842 meters), Jampa (5,500 meters), and Qayangate. These Apus—sacred mountains—symbolize the Incan spiritual connection to Pachamama, or Mother Earth. Bring a hat and sunscreen, as the weather can shift quickly in these high altitudes.

Andean Flora and Fauna

The trek also offers a chance to spot local wildlife: vicuñas, llamas, and a variety of Andean birds that will be your companions along the trail.

Return and Relaxation in the Pacchanta Hot Springs

After the trek, we’ll return to Pacchanta for a hearty hot lunch prepared by our chef. Then, you can soak in the natural hot springs of Pacchanta—a perfect way to relax your muscles and take in the mountain energy before we begin our journey back to Cusco.
